What We Do

When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA. CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system.

Become a CASA

CASA volunteers are simply dedicated and devoted women and men willing to advocate for the best interests of an abused child.  CASA volunteers are given support, guidance, tools, and training from professionals in the field to help them understand and work effectively within the child welfare system.

Welcome to CASA of Trinity Valley

CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed members of the court. In an overburdened social welfare system, children in foster care often slip through the cracks among hundreds of current cases. CASA volunteers change that.

New Volunteer Training

CASA of Trinity Valley is continuously training volunteers to serve in Henderson, Anderson and Cherokee counties.  Should you like to join the CASA program please call Kathy Moreland at (903) 675-7070.  You may also complete an application via this website by clicking on Volunteer Application.

What does a CASA Volunteer Do?

When a family is in crisis and becomes involved in the child welfare system, a Court Appointed Advocate (CASA) volunteer may be appointed by a judge to advocate for the child.

This highly trained volunteer is someone from the child’s community whose responsibility is to get to know the child and their family and advocate for their safety, permanency and well-being while in foster care. This is just one example of the difference a CASA volunteer can make in a child’s life.

We empower volunteers to advocate for the children’s best interests, to ensure that their needs are met, and to secure a permanent, safe, and nurturing home as soon as possible.
